Description

Key Characters:

Growth Form: Sprawling shrubs.

Stems: Stems 10–13 dm long, branched, young ones densely rusty tomentose, eventually glabrate.

Roots:

Leaves: Leaves simple. Alternate. Blades elliptic, 49–70 mm long, 14–22 mm wide. Apex acuminate. Base cuneate. Upper surfaces appressed rusty pilose; lower surfaces densely rusty tomentose; blades coriaceous. Margins entire. Veins obscure. Petioles 10–16 mm long. Stipules absent.

Flowers: Flowers solitary in leaf axils. Flowers bisexual (perfect), actinomorphic, 6–7-merous, pedicels 11–35 mm long in fruit, brown pubescent; (other floral parts not seen), bracteate, bracteoles absent. Calyx lobes apparently 6, narrowly lanceolate, co. 7–8 mm long. Corolla lobes entire, imbricate. Stamens as many as and opposite the corolla lobes; filaments adnate to corolla tube; anthers dithecal. Ovary superior, 1-celled; ovule placentation free-central; style 1.

Fruit: Capsules probably broadly ovoid to subglobose; ca. 6 mm long; regularly dehiscent by 6–7 valves. Seeds not seen.
